CAMBRIDGE, MA– September 4, 2019–Sense, whose intelligent home energy monitor provides real-time insights into energy and device activity in the home, has won the 2019 AI TechAward in the category Consumer AI Technology. Developed using advanced machine learning, the Sense monitor and app track the home’s energy activity and provide insights that inspire people to save money and live more responsibly.
The 2019 AI Tech Awards celebrate technical innovation, adoption and reception in the AI, Machine Learning & Data Science industry and by the developer community. The TechAwards Advisory Board received hundreds of nominations and selected the Sense Home Energy Monitor based on three criteria: (1) attracting notable attention and awareness in the AI, Machine Learning & Data Science industry; (2) general regard and use by the developer & engineering community; and (3) being a leader in its sector for innovation.
“Sense is a great example of the newest AI and machine learning technologies that are now allowing developers and engineers to build upon the burgeoning AI industry. Today’s cloud-based software and hardware increasingly rely on the combination of data and intelligence, and Sense‘s win here at the 2019 AI TechAwards is evidence of their leading role in the growth of the AI ecosystem,” said Jonathan Pasky, Executive Producer & Co-Founder of DevNetwork, producer of AI Dev World & the 2019 AI TechAwards.
“We are honored to be selected as a winner of the 2019 AI TechAward for Consumer AI Technology,” said Mike Phillips, Founder and CEO of Sense. “Sense’s approach to AI is informed by more than three decades of voice recognition research that led to billions of voice assistants helping people every day. At Sense, we’re using AI to reveal the hidden energy patterns in people’s homes, providing insights that inspire and empower people. Our goal is to Sense-enable every home, so people can track their energy fitness in the Sense app, live more responsibly and save money.”
Installed in the home’s electrical panel, the Sense Home Energy Monitor measures power one million times per second and collects more than 1 quadrillion energy data samples a day, and doubling every year, making it the largest set of home energy data in the world. The data is analyzed using advanced machine learning algorithms that identify the electrical signatures of individual devices in the home. This sophisticated technology allows homeowners to track their home’s energy in the Sense app in real time, right down to the second. Drawing on its uniquely rich data, Sense will continue to enhance its insights for consumers about the energy patterns of their homes.
The award will be presented at the 2019 AI TechAwards Ceremony during AI DevWorld (Oct 8-10, 2019, San Jose Convention Center), the largest Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Data Science conference with tracks covering NLP, Open Source AI, AI for the Enterprise, Deep AI, Neural Networks and more.
